Run one, Run All!

Run one, Run All....
Welcome to the temporary home of  Rohring Round the Clock 6 and 12 Hour Runs.
Our first event is a two-day series of runs on February 23-24, 2013 at Rohr Park in Chula Vista, Ca.
We offer a 12 hour run (5:30 AM start) and 2 runs of 6 hours on each day (6AM / PM Start).  You can run any one, a combination of two, three or four runs to complete a Quadzilla, Quaffle, Triple or Trifecta or Double if you are a crazy like me.  The events will be timed.  Results will be posted on our official website, and your times will be sent to Athlinks.  Registration opens on January 2, 2013.

If you should complete multiple events at our Rohring venue and level-up as a Maniac or Fanatic, we will write a letter to the main maniacs to confirm your finish , and create a certificate for you to hang with your commemorative clock that all finishers will receive.

Something funny like....  John Smith reached Uranus while Rohring Round the Clock...
or Tony got his buns Bronzed while Rohring Round the Clock on February 23-24, 2013.
If you dont understand... go to www.marathonmaniacs.com or www.halffanatics.com
and see the criteria.

Our events are low-key, with a limited number of entrants.  Lunatics are generally OK, as long as they obey Generally Accepted Running and Walking Practices and Obey posted rules and regulations of the park.  Elvis may make an appearance, but don't count on it.

We value cameraderie and fun.  We provide a Family-friendly and Runner-friendly course with plenty of restrooms, water fountains, some shade, parking, and proximity to restaurants, coffee shops, grocery stores, watering holes, and other amenities within walking distance of the start / finish for you and your crew to stock up on supplies.  We also have free Wi-Fi at the Start / Finish.  We don't serve alcohol, and request that you refrain from imbibing on the course.

The Rohring Course is a 5K loop with 45-50 feet of ascent / descent per lap.  75% of the course is dirt or DG trail.  The balance includes some bike path blacktop, sidewalk and concrete.  There is grass surrounding a portion of the sidewalk and concrete, so you can use that if you wish.  The course traverses the boundary of a golf course, and the inside of a city park.  It crosses a parking lot driveway ( where you will park your car near the start / finish ) and one residential street.  We recommend gaiters.  If you don't have any, Maria can make you a pair for a reasonable price.  She made me a cool pair of San Diego Chargers gaiters.  Just let us know and send us some fabric if you want them to be customized.  We will serve typical ULTRA fare at our venue.  Water, Electrolyte Replacement Fluid, Sugary and Salty Snacks, PBJ sandwiches and other old-school food will be aplenty.  If you need some special, scientifically-formulated, performance-enhancing, mind-altering gooey or pasty stuff to fuel your engine... feel free to bring it and share with your friends.

Your race crew can access the course from several locations, AND you can have a pacer accompany you on foot.  You can take a break at the aid station, the local restaurants or ice cream parlor, update your facebook page or check your email... just be safe and keep aware of what's going on around you.  We share the trail with walkers, doggies on leashes, horses from time to time and an occasional cyclist.  In most locations the trail is 15 feet wide or so.

We discourage ipods, mp3 players and headphones for safety reasons, but we do not ban them and we will not ask you to remove them except at the aid station when talking to volunteers.

Entry fees will be as follows:
ONE 6 hour run: $50.  (2) TWO @ 6 Hours $90. (3) Three @Six Hours $120. (4) Four @ 6 Hours $150
One 12 Hour Run $90.  Two 12 Hour Runs $150.

You may register for an additional race on race day, but sorry, no refunds if you decide to cancel.
Same day registration will be an additional $20 per event.  This website will be updated with official registration links, course map and elevation chart ( for 45 feet?  RU NUTS?) and additional details.

  1. For a 6 hour run, you do not have to run for 6 hours. You can stop at 13.1 miles, 25K, 26.2 miles or 50K. We will give you an official time for the distance, just let us know your intent. Same with the 12 hours. You can got for 50 miles or 100K if you wish. We will mark out your final loop to hit the distance if its not an even multiple of 5K.

  2. If you are starting on your final lap in the last 30 minutes of the timed run and you are trying to hit a given distance, such as 26.2M or 50K, but you wont finish in the 6 hour time, you can finish the lap, if you tell us ahead of time. We will give you a time for the distance you completed, but you wont get an official 6 hour time. SO, for example, a 6h25m 50K would be possible. If you know you will need 7 or 8 hours to finish your target distance, sign up for the 12 hour run.
